Body Preparation for Expression. 

Given by MIGUELgonzález

Based on the practice of pantomime exercises.

Objective:  to help the studend to be able of unite all body energy for expression and on stage work.

We will based in the knowledge and practice of excersises that will give us flexibility, looseness, strenght and expresivity, we'll take conscious of the power of body for expression.

To potenciate our body expressioin capacity, our creativity and our spacial sense, we will submerge in the antique art of pantomime. 

Pantomime is a discipline that takes practice and self patience.

Workshop contributions to the student: portaciones:

- Mental and physical health.

- Total freedom for the creative mind and the for the creator body (everything is possible in pantomime).

- Learning a discipline to be used on any on stage presentation, even to any daily life situation (knowledge of body muscles and articulations)

- To develop the capacity of being on public (no fear of being criticized).

Sessions structure: Punctuality, Warming up, Mime exercises, Technique, Break, Improvisation.

Punctuality: At the beginning of each session. We'll form a united group with the workshop as a priority. There's a hole if part or the whole session is missed, in knowledge as well as in the group unity. The ending time is flexible, not before time.

Warming up: Easy movements and stretching that will bring us strengt, flexibility, looseness and histamines. They are different each day and last about 20-30 mins. Includes a small review of the last session.

Mime exercises: Balance and static movements among others. They will give us, movement logic and it is a continuation of the first parto of the session. About 30 mins.

Technique:  Surfaces, lifting, pulling, pushing, etc. With this we get to know our own body, its, power, articulations, muscles compensations, strengh lines, etc. The visual effects are not a goal themselves, but we should know them in order to take advantage from them. Abstract ambients, no gravity, foam, water... We will work balance and no weight. The face, the states of tension, the elements, etc. All of this not only trains the body, it is a key for character, personality and even for voice. 40 mins.

Break: Average student is at this time tired and it is better not to force. With time, mental and physic condition gets better and the break becomes a space for keep on working. Some times we will dedicate this space to make up, for those who wish so. 10 mins.

Improvisation: We will work with different methods of improvisation. Individual, by couples or in group. A theme, situation or action will be proposed. Student plays and the others evaluate and criticize. Constructive critic is important to learn, it gives the opportunity of making progress very soon; to analyze others make us analyze ourselves. Hope to be criticized and so you help me on my own learning.  15 mins.  

WARNING! - Mime is an adiction that once you know it and feel it you won´t be able to quit it. Mime gets control of the actor and makes with him/her what words can not do. Mime takes body and transformation show up when realeasing body and mind, letting Mime carry with responsability and to be the one who acts. If this is achieved, then we can get integration between actor, character and audience; this is the only way we can get into a stage success. - The rest of time I'm myself, thinking in how to play the real life pantomime.
