WARNING - Mime is an adiction that once you know it and feel it you won't be able to quit it. Mime gets control of the actor and makes with him/her what words can not do. Mime takes body and transformation shows up when realeasing body and mind, letting Mime carry with responsability and to be the one who acts. If this is achieved, then we can get integration between actor, character and audience; this is the only way we can get into a stage success. -The rest of time I'm myself, thinking in how to play the real life pantomime.
Mime: 1. Pantomime:
Art or gender of conceiving a story with only body motion.
Paul Curtis, Founder/Director of The American Mime Theatre, use the following definitions: Pantomime is the art of creating the illusion of reality by dealing with imaginary objects or situations. Its art rests on the ability to imply weight, texture, line, rhythm and force to the air around them. Mime, on the other hand, is the art of acting silently through various kinds of theatrical movement. |
